Mr. Ram Kishore Upadhyay, IRAS

A postgraduate in English Literature, has served in Finance Department of Indian Railways in various capacities for more than 39 years. Before retiring as Dy.FA&CAO (SG) in 2018, he got wide experience of functioning in various branches of accounts and finance in different zonal railways, and often praised by his superior and peers for his in depth knowledge of financial and accounting matters of Indian Railways. After superannuation, he also served in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for two years in HR department and for three years, in Dedicated Fright Corridor Corporation Limited as Consultant/ Vigilance.

Besides his acknowledged professional acumen in the field of Accounts, Finance, Contract Management and Human Resource related matters, he has shown his exceptional organizational skill and ability while serving as President and General Secretary of Northern Railways Promotee Officers, besides holding various portfolios in the organization from time to time. He has been in instrumental in compiling various cadre related statistics and making presentations before colleagues and administration, and also made tremendous contribution in ensuring timely promotions and helped solving issues relating to the career of promotee officers of Northern Railway from time to time through his sheer ability and competence, which has been acknowledged by the colleagues with respect. He possesses a special talent in D&AR related matters and has assisted many senior officials of Railways and outside successfully.

Ramkishore Upadhyay has also penned more than a dozen literary books by now –‘ड्राइंग रूम के कोने’, ‘नीली धूप में’, ‘दीवार में आले’, ‘नचिकेता, मैं नहीं’, ‘नीम का वह पेड़’ और ‘सृष्टि के गीत’ ( six Hindi poetry books)– ‘मूर्खता के महर्षि’ और ‘दस हाथ वाला आदमी’ (two satirical books) , ब्रेड एंड बुक ( Memoire), ‘लालटेन’ (Story collection) ‘तितली के रंग’ ( Novel in Hindi) and ‘Whispers Of Redemption’ (novel in English). Not only this, his articles, poems and stories are being published regularly in important national literary magazines and newspapers.He has been awarded by many organizations from India and abroad for his literary contribution. Ministry of Railways also awarded him with prestigious Maithilisharan Gupta Award (2013) for his very first poetry collection ‘ड्राइंग रूम के कोने’. He has attended many literary conferences in India and abroad and visited Germany, Hungary, Check, Slovakia, Austria and Nepal on literary tours. He is also the Chief Editor of अट्टहास (a monthly satire/humor magazine ). He had been instrumental in giving momentum to information and knowledge sharing among promotee officers through PROP (mouthpiece of IRPOF) as its Editor.
