Court Cases
Legal proceedings, judgments, and court cases related to railway officers and administrative matters.
- Indian Rly. Class II Officers vs Anil Kumar Sanghi & Ors on 23 September, 2002 (PDF) - The Supreme Court held that the Government had the authority under Rule 4(b) to vary the promotion quota beyond the usual 40% to address stagnation and administrative exigencies. Accordingly, the promotion of 127 Group 'B' Railway officers to Group 'A' Junior Scale was legal and valid, and the Central Administrative Tribunal erred in treating 38 of those promotions as excess or merely ad hoc. The Tribunal's order was set aside, and the appeal was allowed.
- Anil Kumar Sanghi Case (PDF) - In this case the Supreme Court decided that the Railways are empowered to vary the vacancies for promotees, in excess of quota.
- High Court Judgement in Bhagwan Singh (PDF) - granting of fixation of pay from the date it was due while his Gp. A. induction was done, but not notified as he retired before the actual notification.
